PwC M&A and PwC Legal were mandated by Kreisstadt Neunkirchen in September 2014 as exclusive advisors to sell a majority stake in Städtisches Klinikum Neunkirchen gGmbH (“Städtisches Klinikum Neunkirchen”). We conducted a structured and competitive auction process to find a strategic partner to secure the future of Städtisches Klinikum Neunkirchen. Neunkirchen’s city council decided to sell 94.9% of Städtisches Klinikum Neunkirchen to Stiftung kreuznacher diakonie in November 2015. Closing took place in February 2016.
Städtisches Klinikum Neunkirchen is a hospital for specialised medical services with 275 planned beds in Neunkirchen, Saarland. More than 11,600 inpatients and 30,000 outpatients are treated at Städtisches Klinikum Neunkirchen each year.
Stiftung kreuznacher diakonie („SKD“) is a charitable trust that operates hospitals, hospices and accommodations for the handicapped, elderly and homeless in Rhineland-Palatinate, Saarland and Hesse. SKD, headquartered in Bad Kreuznach, has approximately 6,000 employees and treats several thousand patients in Germany every day.
