How can a traditional industrial machine manufacturer transition into a digital service provider?
The multinational machine and tool manufacturer was looking to expand its reach into digital services. The client approached us to help realise this goal.
After conducting extensive user research with small metal processing companies, we translated our findings into a value proposition for a cloud-based management software, integrating data from connected machines and sensors. We identified key features and designed the entire workflow of the software.
Based on our recommendations, our client decided to establish a new company. Today, the new business entity has over 100 employees and a wide range of partners and clients.
Its platform business model sparked heated debate within the German manufacturing industry. Together with our client, we gave talks elaborating on the implications of the service, and the organisation and ecosystem as a whole.
The new business entity is the result of traditional industries embracing cutting-edge software and services.
