How can railway stations become an integral part of smart cities?
In order to increase the attractiveness and competitive appeal of cities, the Smart City of tomorrow has to provide efficient public transport and corresponding mobility concepts.
In order to create these, we conducted qualitative interviews with different target groups to develop concepts for transforming railway stations into attractive third places.
Several of our ideas have been defined as strategic goals by stakeholders of the public sector including a national railway company in a Memorandum of Understanding. The illustration above was taken from the first page of the corresponding brochure.
Using our interviews and research as a basis, we also developed concrete concepts on how to create attractive third places around the railway stations.
Mobility will be an essential component of future cities.
